Chalk Art Contest
Celebrating 50 years of Fearrington Village
April 27, 2024, 10 AM - 3 PM
Gathering Place Campus
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Fearrington Village by depicting moments in the Village or recollections of the ‘70s in sidewalk chalk. Drawings should show imagination and creativity. The contest is open to artists young at heart or just plain young, individual entrants and teams! Chalk will be available at the Women of Fearrington tent and generously supplied by Bo Bobbitt. You also may use your own chalk. Bring a kneeling pad for your knees!*

*We will try to have some kneeling pads on hand, and are looking for donations or loans. Garden kneelers or worn out yoga mats welcome! Send an email to womenoffearrington@gmail.com if you can help.
Registration: Free! Pre-registration by April 10 is encouraged by clicking here. 40 sidewalk “canvas” spaces will be available.
You may also sign up at the WoF tent on the day of the festival, space permitting.
Event Schedule: Entrants may begin drawing on April 27th at 10 AM. All drawings should be completed by 3 PM to allow for judging and onsite voting by attendees. Judging will begin at 3:30 PM. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony at 4:30 PM.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded based on Originality, Artistic Expression, and Creativity. Overall Best in Show will be judged by attendees. Artists do not need to be present to win. Photos will be taken of each entry.
Volunteers Needed for AED Training

The FHA Health, Safety & Security team will hold AED (automated external defibrillation) training on Monday, April 29, 1:30 -- 3 p.m. at The Gathering Place. They would like each club to send a representative to gain confidence in using this lifesaving device. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Department and SECU will highlight common consumer fraud schemes, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you fall victim to scammers. This program, sponsored by Fearrington Cares, Women of Fearrington, and the FHA, will help you be more skilled at

Watercolor Class/Sketching for Beginners
Saturday, June 8th, 1:00-4:00 pm

As summer approaches and a slower pace descends upon us, members are invited to get their creative juices flowing by enrolling in "Sketching for Beginners," a watercolor class taught by gifted artist and teacher Lynn Holbein. You may visit Lynn's website www.lynnholbein.com to gain a sense of the work and talents of this instructor.
Inspiration will be provided by items found around the house such as plants, ceramics, books, and woodland views from Lynn's windows. You will learn to sketch like the samples shown.
Tea and snacks will be provided.

Payment
A materials fee of $38.00 to be paid directly to the instructor and participants will receive watercolor pencils, a sketchbook and other materials to keep. Participants should make the $38.00 materials fee payment directly to Lynn Holbein at 920 Fearrington Post, Pittsboro, NC 27312 and include "watercolor class" on the memo line.
If participants would like, they may make a donation to the Women of Fearrington "Wonderful Options" fund in any amount they choose. Participants wishing to make a donation to the "Wonderful Options" fund should make checks payable to Women of Fearrington with "watercolor class" on the memo line and on the outside of the envelope placed in the Women of Fearrington mailbox at the Swim & Croquet mail kiosk. If preferred, donations may also be mailed to Women of Fearrington, P.O. Box 507, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
