GUEST SPEAKER - DIXIE SWANSON, author of Once Upon A War

We know of and admire the strength of women across the ages as they have faced monumental challenges while wars raged and disease ravaged communities. Dixie Swanson will be our presenter at the October general meeting on Wednesday, the 19th, at the Gathering Place. Her work of historical fiction Once Upon A War: Women in War tells the story of a wide-eyed fashion prodigy living in the countryside of France and her aspirations to become a fashion designer in one of the prestigious couture houses of Paris. War derails her plans but new talents and courage surface as the German occupation advances.

Dixie, a retired pediatrician, saw families in crisis in her practice and knows that conflict in the home can rival the conflict in the outside world. Please join us to hear about Dixie's research for this book and ways that her professional experiences have helped her hone her craft. Copies of her book are available at McIntyre's as well as Amazon, with the eBook version also available from Amazon. Copies may be purchased prior to this event if attendees wish to prepare for Dixie's presentation and enjoy an exciting read. Dixie has agreed to donate her proceeds to the Wonderful Options Fund for copies purchased before to the meeting. She'll even sign your copy after the presentation if you'd like.
